Thank you to Liz Lithglow, Head of Art at Dawlish Community College for enabling the students to create a sculpture for this year’s TRAIL Their submission is inspired by, “..one of our visits we were inspired by a junk sculpture trail of sea creatures which included a giant lobster made from car tyres and fishing netting. Students were asked to raid their recycling bins at home to create their own sea creatures and a few of these have been selected to take part in this display. Also as part of this project we worked with our partner Primary school students to produce some collagraph prints of fantasy fish by collaging scrap materials. The printing plates from this process have also been entangled in the net. We felt it was important for students to see beauty and use in items that are usually disregarded and thrown away.”
