Insect housing scheme
Over 100 children aged 5 – 11 enjoyed working with artists Julia Vella, Liz Lockyear, Amy McCarthy and Rose Bailey, assisted by students on work experience from Teignmouth Community College to design and build homes for a variety of insects. The children used a wide range of recycled materials and also experienced working with a range of hand tools including saws hammers and drills. This insect ‘community housing scheme’ is part of a wider national project teaching young people about the environment and is funded by the United Nations Captain Planet project. At the end of TRAIL the sculpture will be installed in the wildlife garden at the school.
