By The Makery@TAAG work experience students

The Makery @ TAAG work experience students played an inspiring role in this year’s TRAIL 2025 sculpture trail. Tasked with transforming a discarded bed base into a striking piece of environmental art, the students went far beyond simply painting—it became a real experience in community-led creative practice.
They:
- Planned and drew out their design, considering how to reflect the natural beauty of our town.
- Collaborated as a creative team, sharing ideas, problem-solving, and learning to work with different materials.
- Used only donated paints and handmade shells, embracing the TRAIL ethos of sustainability and recycled creativity.
This project gave the students valuable insight into how a community creative venue like The Makery @ TAAG supports large-scale art events. They learned first-hand about planning, teamwork, and running a public art trail, as well as the impact art can have on engaging people with environmental awareness.
The finished piece is a beautiful reminder of what young people can achieve when given space, materials, and encouragement to create together.
