Ghost rigging whether lost through storm damage, accident or dumping, is causing a plastic catastrophe in our oceans. This rigging is ensnaring animals or degrading into microplastics which are then eaten by fish which are in turn then caught and eaten by humans.
The Ocean Recover Project remove vast amounts of ghost rigging from the sea every year and this is TRAIL’s third collaboration with ORP in 2019
